Art programming volunteer, Child Life Services

Duties
- Offer and facilitate art-based projects with patients at the bedside or in groups, independently or alongside Art Specialists, utilizing a range of materials and media
- Communicate with Art Specialists to relay information about all art sessions provided to patients and families
- Offer strategies and discrete art techniques when appropriate, provide scaffolding around use of tools and materials using developmentally appropriate and patient-centered language
- Support with the preparation of "to-go" projects and kits for bedside sessions, or for patients who wish to participate in groups but are unable to leave their room due to precautions
- Assist with stocking, restocking, organizing, and cleaning group space and art storage spaces in collaboration with Art Specialists
- Perform other art-related tasks as needed
Requirements
- At least 18 years old and graduated from high school
- Ability to navigate the hospital in its entirety
- Engage in art sessions with patient census with minimal supervision
- If applying, must fully complete application and submit reference sheet
- Available to attend a Zoom interview scheduled by Volunteer Services
- Available to start in ASAP and continue for the year commitment
Current volunteer need
- Tuesday, any four-hour time frame from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Please note: This timeframe needs to be consistent throughout the year. We will not be able to change your schedule to a different day or time, due to the specific need in this area.
Minimum commitment
- One set four-hour shift per week for one calendar year
