Since 2007, the Laboratory for Biomaterials and Drug Delivery has been developing biotechnological approaches to treating a range of diseases. One major area of investigation has been the development of long-acting and/or sensory-selective local anesthetics. Others have included surgical glues, drug-eluting containing lenses, ophthalmic analgesia, trans-tympanic treatments for middle and inner ear diseases, treatments for vascular malformations, on-demand drug delivery systems and many others.
