Winter Break Program | Overview

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Boston Children’s Hospital. The Winter Break Program gives those who are 18 and older, and out of high school, the chance to volunteer on an inpatient unit. Please review all information below to learn more.

Volunteer commitment

  • Three eight-hour shifts per week for four consecutive weeks, starting in mid-December and ending in January.
  • Shifts will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays only.
  • Please note: Wednesday, Dec. 25, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, are hospital holidays. Volunteers will not attend their shifts on these dates.
  • Due to the short duration of this program, candidates that have planned time away during this period should refer to other programs.

Requirements

  • 18 years or older, and out of high school
  • Submit an application and reference form by the given due dates
  • Agree to complete the full volunteer commitment
  • Attend a Zoom interview
  • Attend the mandatory volunteer training

How to apply

The Winter Break Program Volunteer Application will be OPEN from 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, to 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1. Please revisit this page during recruitment to find the application link. Please keep in mind that Boston Children’s Hospital requires all volunteers to be vaccinated against Flu.
