Education Opportunities

  • Orientation for Nurses and Clinical Assistants: Breastmilk Management is offered monthly – check Nursing Education Calendar or Net Learning for information.
  • Breastmilk Competency can be completed through Net Learning.
  • Breastfeeding Family education information sheets are available on many topics and in several languages (English, Spanish and Arabic) to print for use with your families.
  • Breastfeeding Committee – become a breastfeeding resource for your inpatient unit or clinical service! This group meets quarterly for education opportunities and collaborates via e-mail to distribute lactation information to staff throughout the hospital. Medication use while breastfeeding

The NEOQIC group from Massachusetts has developed four topics for families of premature infants and translated them into 8 languages. They are written at a 5-6th grade reading level and contain professional quality photos taken by a NICU nurse at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center:
