Top notch treatment plan

Following the initial evaluation, the medical team will develop a comprehensive treatment plan. This plan will vary depending on the child’s condition. It can include surgery, laser therapy, interventional radiology, or medication, or it can involve simply monitoring the malformation over time. After talking with the family about the child’s condition and treatment options, the team will provide a written summary of this information for the family and referring physician.

Children can receive treatment at Boston Children’s Hospital, or return home to the care of their referring physician. Our team is always available to consult with families and their physician by phone or email. If patients receive ongoing care at another facility, we still like to see them once a year to assess their progress and make additional treatment recommendations, if necessary.

Exceptional facilities

At Boston Children’s Hospital, our state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facilities are designed around the needs of patients and their families. These include diagnostic imaging, interventional radiology suites, and operating rooms.
