Kristine Hernandez | Professional History
Kristine Hernandez earned her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she developed a passion for healthy lifestyle changes and the intersection of culture and mental health. Before entering her doctoral program, she worked as a therapist in an outpatient clinic with trauma-exposed children and families, employing process-oriented, attachment-based family therapy, expressive arts, and cognitive behavioral strategies within a culturally sensitive framework.
She relocated to Massachusetts to pursue a doctorate in clinical psychology with a concentration in Global Mental Health at William James College, focusing her research on refugee children. She completed her dissertation on the social-emotional development of child refugees. During her clinical training, Kristine provided therapy and conducted psychological assessments for children in various settings, including hospitals, schools, and outpatient clinics.
Recently, she completed a two-year neuropsychology fellowship at the Integrated Center for Child Development, where she worked with a diverse range of children, including those with complex medical diagnoses, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, attentional disorders, and learning disorders. Kristine is eager to continue her professional journey, promoting wellness among children and families from diverse backgrounds.
