Trevor McGill | Professional History

Trevor McGill is a Professor of Otology and Laryngology at Harvard Medical School and a Senior Associate in Otolaryngology at Boston Children's Hospital.   Over the past four decades, he has played a pivotal role in establishing the reputation of this department to its current status as the premier Pediatric Otolaryngology practice in the USA.

During his four decades at Boston Children’s Hospital he has accumulated extensive expertise in caring for pediatric patients with otolaryngologic disorders. His special area of expertise, is in the area of children with head and neck tumors, hemangiomas and vascular anomalies.  This clinical experience, shared in peer reviewed papers and presentations, has been recognized to have altered clinical care regionally, nationally and internationally. He is actively involved in teaching medical students, and in 1995 he was nominated for the Harvard Medical School Award for Excellence in Mentoring.

Dr. McGill is a member of numerous national and international societies.  He has been an honorary guest at various meetings including the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology as well as the American Rhinological Society and The American Bronchoesophageal Society. He was awarded the Gabriel Tucker Award by the American Laryngological Society in 1999, and he delivered the Wilde Discourse at the Irish Otolaryngological Society in 2004 and he was Guest of Honor at the European Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology in 2006.   In 2011 at University College, Dublin, awarded him an Honorary Degree in Science.  He was awarded the TJ Wilson Memorial Medal at the European Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology in Dublin for his contribution to Pediatric Otolaryngology.

To date, Dr. McGill has co-authored 130 peer reviewed papers, chapters and edited 3 textbooks in Pediatric Otolaryngology including Pediatric Otolaryngology: Pediatric Principles and Pathways which is one of the most popular books in the field.
