Imari-Ashley Isaksen | Professional History

Dr. Isaksen’s clinical interests include collaborative and multidisciplinary care of patients with chronic medical illnesses, particularly the pediatric solid organ transplant (SOT) population; and certain acute psychiatric presentations such as severe eating disorders requiring medical stabilization and functional neurological symptom disorder. Dr. Isaksen’s research and quality improvement interests include increasing understanding of sub-populations of youth with severe eating disorders; how to disseminate knowledge about trauma-informed-care and ways to implement in medical settings; increasing understanding of the relationship between psychological functioning and medical illness in SOT population; and increasing ways to collaborate with mental health providers internationally to increase shared knowledge.

I approach care of our patients understanding there are many components and determinants of health that influence both mental and physical health. Understanding of how each person's biopsychosocial picture relates to their presenting problem is the first step in care.
