Eleanor (Ella) Ross | Professional History
Ella Ross, MSW, LCSW, is a clinical social worker specializing in the treatment of eating disorders, and other mental health concerns. She provides evidence-based and compassionate care, drawing from extensive experience at McLean Hospital, Walden Behavioral Care, and Monte Nido. In these settings, she has offered crisis intervention, skills-based group therapy, and meal and snack support for both adolescents and adults.
A certified member of the Academy of Eating Disorders, Ella has guided more than 800 clients through meal exposures and is recognized for her balanced, “tough-love” approach. She helps clients challenge fear foods, strengthen coping skills, and build a more peaceful relationship with food and their bodies. Understanding that eating disorders affect entire support systems, Ella also provides care and education for parents, partners, and caregivers.
Ella’s clinical approach integrates Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing. She practices from a Health at Every Size (HAES) framework, emphasizing respect, body diversity, and the reduction of weight stigma in care.
A graduate of Bates College with a degree in Psychology and Education, Ella earned her Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from Boston College. She is an active member of the LGBTQ+ community and values creating affirming, identity-conscious spaces for clients of all backgrounds. Influenced by Positive Psychology, she brings optimism, humor, and connection into her sessions, encouraging clients to find strength and joy throughout their recovery journey.
