Boston Children's Hospital is committed to providing high-quality continuing education to pediatric providers and specialists throughout the world. As a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, we have more than 800 attending physicians and researchers who are in the forefront of the understanding and treatment of pediatric diseases and disorders. Given this infrastructure, the Observership Program at Boston Children’s Hospital provides knowledge of best practices to improve pediatric care worldwide and promote a collaborate environment for exchange of ideas. Observerships are informal learning experiences and do not constitute formal training or patient contact. Observerships are offered to healthcare providers across a number of departments and divisions. As part of the curriculum, visitors may observe clinical activities and procedures; attend rounds, lectures, seminars, and other interdisciplinary conferences occurring in the Hospital.
Observerships are offered in a number of subspecialties including but not limited to: Allergy / Immunology, Critical Care Medicine, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Genetics / Genomics, Neurology, Newborn Medicine, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Pathology, Plastic Surgery, Psychiatry, Radiology, and Urology. Observerships are also offered in the Simulator Program.
If you are interested in applying to an Observership Program, please complete our online application. Due to the individual department and division criteria processing times varies. We recommend applying as soon as possible and at least six months prior to the anticipated start date. Please note observerships are not offered in general pediatrics.
