What is hemitruncus?

Hemitruncus is a rare congenital anomaly in which one pulmonary artery branch, usually the right, arises from the ascending aorta just above the aortic sinuses, whereas the main pulmonary artery and the other pulmonary branch arise in their normal position.

How does Boston Children’s Hospital treat hemitruncus?

Complementing the Cardiovascular Program of Boston Children's is the nation's most intensive clinical and basic research program focused on pediatric heart disease. Boston Children's is a world leader in opening new avenues of "translational research," bringing laboratory advances to the bedside and doctor's office as quickly as possible. All senior medical staff members of the Cardiovascular Program participate in clinical research activities.
