Dr. Jon Vanderhoof joined the faculty at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska in 1976 and served as their first Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology. During his time there, he was instrumental in initiating and developing the intestinal failure program and intestinal transplantation program at the institution. Dr. Vanderhoof was also Executive Director of the Center for Human Nutrition in Omaha and, for a five-year period, chaired the Department of Pediatrics at Creighton University, also in Omaha. In 2002, he became VP for Global Medical Affairs at Mead Johnson Nutrition, a position he held for 9 ½ years. Dr. Vanderhoof has since resumed his academic career at Boston Children’s Hospital where he serves as an attending physician within the Center for Advanced Intestinal Rehabilitation.
Approach to Care
I believe the very best medical care ought to be available to children who are in need of specialized expertise. I have a long-standing interest in the scientific side of medicine. At the same time, I enjoy interacting with and helping people. Medicine provides a unique opportunity to combine the two.
