Untangling PANDAS & PANS

Dr. Baumel is featured in S2 E16: One Pediatrician's Journey to Include Mild Cases of PANDAS/PANS into his Everyday Practice

Professional History

Dr. Baumel graduated from Yale University with a bachelors degree in Biology and a varsity letter in fencing. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He trained at Childrens Memorial Hospital in Chicago for his residency in pediatrics and then joined Framingham Pediatrics. He has taught students from U Mass Medical School and mentors pre-med students.

His clinical interests are wide ranging and include children with complex medical needs such as infection induced OCD, ADHD, and encopresis. In addition to fluency in Spanish, He also learned Portuguese to care for the large Brazilian community that resides in the Metrowest region. Outside of the office he enjoys fencing, orienteering, mountain biking, hiking and astronomy.

Approach to Care
My passion for pediatrics began with a keen interest in science and 6 splendid summers as a camp counselor in NH. Practicing for over 25 years while raising 4 wonderful children fuels my empathy to care for the families in my practice. Being a good listener is the most important part of my job. To maximize my connection with you and your children, I use a medical scribe.
