Research & Innovation | Overview

The Eating Disorders Program at Boston Children's Hospital is actively involved in many research projects aimed at providing a better understanding of adolescent eating disorders and developing new treatments.

Current Eating Disorders Program research projects

  • Therapies for prevention of osteoporosis in girls with eating disorders
  • Eating patterns and weight control behaviors that lead to eating disorders and obesity
  • Nutritional patterns and eating disorder risk in school and community settings
  • Assessments of middle school environments that promote healthy nutrition, body image, and physical activity
  • New therapies for eating disorders, including a clinical practice guideline
  • National Eating Disorder Quality Improvement Collaborative to compare and improve care of adolescents/young adults with restrictive eating disorders
