Monogenic diabetes care
Welcome to the Boston Children’s Hospital Diabetes Genetics Clinic. We specialize in the diagnosis and management of genetic forms of diabetes. If your child has a known genetic form of diabetes, we will provide personalized care tailored to their unique situation. If they have a suspected genetic form of diabetes or atypical diabetes, they may be evaluated and undergo genetic testing for further clarity and diagnosis.
We see patients with the following conditions:
- Maturity onset diabetes of the young (MODY)
- Mitochondrial diabetes
- Neonatal diabetes
- Atypical diabetes who are considering or desiring genetic testing
- Inconclusive previous genetic testing
- Lipodystrophy
Individuals with MODY are the most frequent group seen in our clinic. These include individuals with genetic variants in:
- ABCC8
- GCK
- HNF1A
- HNF1B
- HNF4A
- INS
- KCNJ11
- LMNA
- NFKB1
- PDX1
- PPARG
- And others
