Kerriann Ostlund | Professional History

Kerriann has close to ten years of clinical experience in the field of social work and has had a passion for human services throughout her lifetime. She received her Bachelor degree in Social Work from Salem State University, and went on to get her MSW from Simmons University. Kerriann has worked in a variety of community and outpatient mental health settings and inpatient hospital settings. She has worked with all populations across the lifespan from children to elder adults. Throughout her career, she has found her passion primarily in the medical setting, and in working with children, adolescents, and families.

Her specialties include working with populations struggling with depression, anxiety, substance use disorder, attachment disorders, mood disorders, and those with a history of trauma or adverse childhood experiences. Kerriann's therapeutic modalities are centered around CBT, ACT, IFS, motivational interviewing, somatic experiencing and body-based work, in addition to art therapy, play therapy, and sand tray therapy. In addition to her clinical background, Kerriann is also an adjunct professor at Salem State University teaching second year MSW students. Her passions outside of work include practicing yoga, theatre, dance, participating in her community chorus, and spending time with dogs and her family.

I believe in a person-centered approach in which the patient is the expert in driving their treatment. I focus on a patient's strengths in order to make sure their treatment experience is as individualized as possible. I deeply believe in the power of each individual and the strong connection between the brain and body. I work to bring this into the therapeutic space during each interaction.
