Education & Training | Overview

The Division of Newborn Medicine supports three key educational programs dedicated to training and mentoring the next generation of neonatologists:

The Harvard Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Training Program

The Division of Newborn Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital is the academic and administrative center of the Harvard Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship Training Program, a world-class neonatal research and clinical training program that operates within four Harvard hospitals: Boston Children’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Massachusetts General Hospital. The training program is directed by the chief of the Division of Newborn Medicine, who, as the Academic Chair of the program, is responsible for the oversight and implementation of its mission: to train the next generation of academic neonatologists and future leaders in the field of neonatal-perinatal medicine.

Summer Student Research Program

Our Summer Student Research Program offers undergraduate students an intensive laboratory and clinical research experience in neonatal topics, guided by faculty and mentors who match students based on their expressed interests.

Observership Program

The Observership Program at Boston Children’s offers informal learning experiences to health care providers to promote best practices and collaboration in neonatal care. Programs last one to 12 weeks, allowing observers to shadow clinical activities, attend daily rounds, lectures, seminars, and interdisciplinary conferences.
