Your child is going home with a nasogastric (NG) feeding tube. An NG tube is needed to give your child liquid medicine or food when he or she is unable to take enough food by mouth. NG tube feedings can be given by the bolus method or by the continuous method. A bolus feeding usually flows by gravity over a short period of time (about 20-30 minutes). Sometimes a pump is used. This information gives you instructions on how to give bolus NG Tube feedings.
