What to expect

At your first clinic visit, your child will be seen by one of our doctors or nurse practitioners. The visit will include a complete physical exam and medical history. A variety of tests to help confirm a diagnosis of TB infection may also be performed. These may include a chest X-ray.

After your examination, we will discuss our findings with you and recommend the best course of treatment.

We'll also provide you with educational materials about TB and show you how to care for your child at home, including how to give your child his or her medication.

Your first clinic visit will usually last 60 to 90 minutes. Follow-up visits are usually shorter. Parking is free in the Boston Children’s garage.

Picking up your prescription

Anti-tuberculosis medications are provided free of charge by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We prefer that you fill your prescription through the hospital.
