• Autism spectrum disorder: Our Autism Spectrum Center coordinates visits with child neurologists, developmental behavioral pediatricians, psychiatrists, geneticists, gastroenterologists, speech/language therapists, and more.
• Birth defects: We provide neurologic care to children with hydrocephalus, spina bifida, and a variety of other congenital anomalies.
• Brain or spinal cord injury: The Brain Injury Center provides acute and long-term care from specialists in child neurology, trauma, critical care, neurosurgery, neuropsychology, rehabilitation, and more.
• Brain or spinal cord tumor: The Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer Center’s Brain Tumor Center offers advanced diagnostics and treatments for malignant and non-malignant tumors.
• CDKL5 Clinic: Our CDKL5 Clinic offers children with CDKL5 disorder specialized care from programs throughout Boston Children’s Hospital.
• Cerebral palsy: We offer neurologic evaluations and care as part of the Cerebral Palsy Center.
• Cerebrovascular disease: The Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center offers advanced imaging and care for children with stroke, non-traumatic bleeding in the brain, and blood vessel disease or malformations that can put the brain at risk.
• Epilepsy and seizures: The Epilepsy Center provides multi-pronged, individualized care to help infants, children, and teens lead seizure-free lives. We see patients in Boston and several suburban locations, and also have an Epilepsy Genetics Program.
• Headache: The Neurology Headache Program sees children and teens with all types of headaches, with locations in Boston and Waltham.
• Infantile Spasms Program: The Infantile Spasms Program is dedicated to providing timely evaluation, testing, treatment, and follow-up for infants with new infantile spasms, refractory infantile spasms, and later-onset epileptic spasms.
• Learning difficulties: The Learning Disabilities Program provides comprehensive evaluations to help school-age children with cognitive, academic, and social development.
• Mitochondrial disorders: The Mitochondrial Program provides diagnostic services and care for children with mitochondrial disorders, such as Kearns-Sayre syndrome, Leigh’s disease, MELAS, MERRF, MNGIE, and Pearson syndrome.
• Movement disorders: The Movement Disorders Program evaluates and cares for children with ataxia, chorea, dystonia, myoclonus, tremor, tic disorders/Tourette's syndrome, and other disorders.
• Multiple sclerosis (MS) and related conditions: The Neuroimmunology Center cares for children and teens with MS, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, acute transverse myelitis, and optic neuritis.
• Neurocritical Care Program: The Neurocritical Care Program provides specialized care to treat and protect the brains of critically ill and injured children.
• Neurofibromatosis: The Neurofibromatosis Program provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, follow-up care, and genetic counseling, and offers enrollment in several clinical trials.
• Neuro-immune disorders: The Neuroimmunology Center treats autoimmune disorders affecting the brain and spinal cord, such as opsoclonus-myoclonus-ataxia syndrome, central nervous system vasculitis, Hashimoto’s encephalopathy, lupus, and auto-immune encephalitis.
• Neurometabolic disorders: The Neurometabolic Program diagnoses and treats metabolic disorders including urea cycle disorders, lysosomal storage disorders, leukodystrophies, and mitochondrial disorders.
• Neuromuscular conditions: The Neuromuscular Center cares for children with muscular dystrophy, myopathies, motor neuron diseases, neuropathies, and neuromuscular junction disorders, and conducts numerous major research studies.
• Rett syndrome: The Rett Syndrome Program, the only such program in New England, cares for both children and adults with Rett syndrome and conducts research into new treatments.
• Sleep problems: The Sleep Center cares for babies and children of all ages with all kinds of sleep problems, offering consults and overnight sleep studies.
• Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA): The Spinal Muscular Atrophy Program offers diagnostic services, provides treatments to help children maintain motor function, manages medical complications of SMA, and actively researches new therapies.
• Stroke: The Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center offers advanced imaging and care, both acute and long-term.
• Sturge-Weber syndrome: The Sturge-Weber Syndrome Clinic brings together multiple specialists to diagnose this disorder and treat its complications.
• Tuberous sclerosis (TS): The Multi-Disciplinary Tuberous Sclerosis Program brings together multiple specialties to provide neurologic and medical care and conducts active research to find new treatments.
