Nearly a fifth of children over age 5 experience issues with bladder or urinary tract dysfunction, which can often be treated with conservative, nonsurgical approaches. At Boston Children’s, we care for these children in our Center for Health Elimination and Bladder Rehabilitation (CHEER).
CHEER is one of the only programs in the country to be co-led by both a pediatric urologist and a pediatrician. This allows us to focus on both urologic and general medical reasons for urinary difficulties. Our support team includes nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers, psychologists, and other experts from various disciplines.
CHEER focuses on urinary tract dysfunction. For toilet training issues, please refer patients to Boston Children’s Toileting Program.
