Boston Children’s Hospital Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine and the Boston Children’s Hospital Simulator Program are proud to offer a one day Pediatric MOCA® Simulation courses in crisis management devoted to pediatric anesthesia.

Target Audience:

Practicing Pediatric Anesthesiologists as well as Practitioners with exposure to pediatric patients who would like to practice and hone their skills

Highlights:

  • first Pediatric ASA endorsed program
  • meets the simulation training requirement for Part IV (Practice Performance Assessment & Improvement) of Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA®)
  • challenging scenarios for the experienced pediatric anesthesiologist as well as the general practitioner
  • 6-hour program takes place directly at the point of clinical care -- in the operating rooms and recovery area of Boston Children’s Hospital

Topics include:

  • Introduction to the basic principles of crisis resource management including teamwork and communication
  • 4 pediatric scenarios followed by debriefing
  • summary discussion
  • small group interactions to enhance the individual experience and facilitate lively interaction -- limited to 4 participants and 2-3 faculty members

FY - 2014 MOCA Courses: March 15, May 4, September 13, November 15. 

No grades are given; this experience is designed for learning and is non-evaluative.

Completion of the course provides board-certified anesthesiologists with MOCA® credit toward one component of Part IV. Please consult the ABA website, www.theABA.org, for a list of all other MOCA® requirements. 

Fee $1500 per person; includes breakfast, coffee breaks, lunch and educational materials.
