Professional History

Tanvi S. Sharma, MD, MPH received her medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and completed general pediatrics residency and pediatric infectious diseases and immunology fellowship at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. Her work in Miami was focused on the care of children with HIV infection and infections in transplant recipients. Dr. Sharma joined the faculty at Boston Children’s Hospital in 2007, and went on to pursue a Master of Public Health degree at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Sharma has a special interest in infections in immunocompromised patients such as those who have undergone solid organ or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, patients with primary immunodeficiencies, and patients with HIV. In addition, Dr. Sharma serves as the Program Director for the pediatric infectious diseases fellowship program, and is highly committed to developing strong foundations of medical education for residents and fellows.

Approach to Care
I am committed to the care of vulnerable populations of children at high risk for infectious diseases. Boston Children’s Hospital cares for many patients with compromised immune systems, and it is important for me to be able to work collaboratively with their teams to ensure that these individuals receive exceptional care to achieve the best possible outcomes.
