Professional History

Dr. Schmitt works with families who have children with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and related disorders, anxiety and ADHD, among others. She conducts diagnostic evaluations, behavioral consultations with caregivers and therapy. She joined the staff in 2011 and helped create the Autism Evaluation Clinic within the Neurology Department at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH), and helped form the Autism Spectrum Center at BCH. She is part of the Autism Friendly Hospital Initiative and helped create the My Hospital Story project. She helps run the Family Advisory Council within the Autism Spectrum Center. Her research has included quality of care projects for children and their families, and the overall hospital experience.
