Dr. Isaksen’s clinical interests include collaborative and multidisciplinary care of patients with chronic medical illnesses, particularly the pediatric solid organ transplant (SOT) population; and certain acute psychiatric presentations such as severe eating disorders requiring medical stabilization and functional neurological symptom disorder. Dr. Isaksen’s research and quality improvement interests include increasing understanding of sub-populations of youth with severe eating disorders; how to disseminate knowledge about trauma-informed-care and ways to implement in medical settings; increasing understanding of the relationship between psychological functioning and medical illness in SOT population; and increasing ways to collaborate with mental health providers internationally to increase shared knowledge.
