Professional History
Dr. Heincelman is an Orthopaedic surgeon with dual training in orthopaedic trauma and orthopaedic oncology. Her primary practice at Boston Children's is taking care of children with benign and malignant bone tumors, or fractures caused by these tumors.
After her residency in orthopaedic surgery in Cincinnati, OH, she completed her trauma fellowship in Indiana, followed by her oncology fellowship in Boston. She then took positions as faculty at Boston Children's Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She is involved with clinical research projects as well as the education of fellows, residents and medical students.
Approach to Care
My interest in orthopaedic oncology began in medical school and the field has continued to amaze and inspire me. The patients I see must overcome a broad spectrum of diagnoses, some of which threaten their life or limb. Nothing is so rewarding than to learn from your own patients on a daily basis.
