Boston Children's Neuro-Ophthalmology Service uses both medical and surgical approaches to treat a wide range of eye conditions related to neurological disorders, including:

  • Abnormalities in optic nerve development (optic nerve coloboma, optic nerve hypoplasia)
  • Brain/intracranial tumors affecting the visual system
  • Diplopia (double vision)
  • Eye movement disorders/cranial nerve palsies
  • Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (pseudotumor cerebri)
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Neurofibromatosis
  • Nystagmus
  • Optic nerve atrophy
  • Optic nerve edema/papilledema
  • Optic neuritis/multiple sclerosis
  • Pupillary abnormalities
  • Retinoblastoma
  • Other retinal disorders secondary to neurological issues
  • Complex strabismus secondary to neurological issues
  • Thyroid eye disease
  • Visual field defects
