The Optometry Department at Boston Children’s at Martha Eliot provides comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages. The residency-trained optometrists and staff perform comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose and treat general eye conditions, and prescribe glasses and contact lenses.

Our mission is to practice excellent, community-oriented eye care in a multidisciplinary setting. This way, patients can benefit from their healthcare providers working together. With state-of-the-art equipment, and a highly trained optometric staff, we are proud to provide exceptional eye care to all.

Our services

Our services include:

  • routine pediatric, adolescent, and adult eye care
  • pediatric eye exams, generally consististing of 3 main components:
    • vision testing (what the child can see)
    • functional vision assessment (how the child uses vision)
    • ocular health assessment (does the child have or is he/she at risk for any pathology?)
  • diabetic eye exams
  • contact lens exams and services
  • optical services (glasses for all ages)
  • vision therapy is also offered as a treatment for functional eye disorders for adults and children
  • Specialty Services:
    • comprehensive eye exams for adults
    • pediatric eye exams
    • contact lens exams
    • diabetic eye exams
    • retinal Imaging
    • visual field testing
  • Languages spoken: English, Spanish, and Cantonese

Hours of operation

  • Monday, Tuesday, and Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Thursday: 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Optical Shop

Grab a new pair of glasses from our newly renovated optical shop. We offer a wide selection of frames, sports eyewear, contact lenses, and more.

  • glasses: single vision, bifocals, and progressives (no-line bifocals)

  • sunglasses and Transitions® lenses

  • sports and safety glasses
  • glasses straps and accessories
  • glasses adjustments (MEHC patients only)
