Our mission is to create distraction, break through isolation, and build self-esteem among patients and families here at Boston Children’s Hospital. We do this by creating engaging TV programs where patients and siblings are the stars of the show.
Seacrest Studios at Boston Children’s Hospital opened in 2014 in collaboration with the Ryan Seacrest Foundation. Seacrest Studios is a radio and television studio that broadcasts on Channel 19 The Hub. Our studio is located on the main campus in the main building, first floor, near the gift shop and pharmacy.
Seacrest Studios is the physical place where we broadcast from, and Channel 19 The Hub is where we broadcast to. Channel 19 The Hub is a closed-circuit TV network (CCTV) that is only available on hospital TVs at Boston Children’s Hospital on the main Longwood campus and at our Waltham campus.
All our live programming is open to participation from kids and young adults of all ages. Our programs always have an interactive element —for example, participants are invited to answer trivia questions, interview special guests, perform a talent, request songs, and more. We meet patients where they are, and they always have a choice in how they participate - whether it be in front of the camera or behind the scenes.
We have a multi-disciplinary team, including staff with media production and child life backgrounds. We combine our skill sets to bring programming that mimics professional TV and radio, while also being appropriate for our patients and their unique needs.
We are also grateful to be supported by student interns from Emerson College, as well as volunteers from Boston Children’s Volunteer Services.
