Philosophy of Care

Providing behavioral health care to children, adolescents, and their families in an integrated health care setting is professionally rewarding as it brings early intervention and even prevention of future mental health concerns through early detection and access to services within the medical home. Navigating the mental health care system can be overwhelming to many families, and by offering these much-needed services within the pediatric practice family’s benefit from the ease of access, familiarity, quick intervention, and collaboration with their primary care physician.

After graduating from Salem State University in Salem, Massachusetts, in 2008, Sarah began her post-master’s clinical training in community mental health, working with children and families at risk of psychiatric hospitalization. Sarah also completed emergency psychiatric assessments for children and adults through crisis services. Sarah received her license as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in 2009. Sarah joined Pediatric Health Care Associates, part-time in 2013. Her clinical interests include working with children with challenging behavioral concerns and their families. Sarah has specialized training in working with behaviorally challenging children through the Collaborative & Proactive Solutions Model (CPS) developed by Dr. Ross Greene. Sarah enjoys supporting and coaching parents as well as working with children and adolescents with anxiety, depression, and trauma. Sarah is also an adjunct faculty at Salem State University and Merrimack University in their graduate clinical training programs for Mental Health Counselors.
