Eileen Rafferty

Dr. Eileen Rafferty started out her career working with adults with developmental disabilities, followed by several years working in early childhood development with children diagnosed with autism and social/emotional disorders. Her love of children brought her to a career in special education, working with children and adolescents classified with emotional disturbance. Recognizing a need for positive behavioral support within the schools she decided to further her education and pursued her doctoral degree in School Psychology, which she obtained in 2012 from St. John’s University. She has worked as a Crisis Intervention Specialist for the Department of Education, which entailed providing individual and classroom consultation and behavioral support for students classified with emotional disturbance.

Dr. Rafferty specializes in the evaluation and treatment of children with emotional dysregulation, disruptive behaviors, aggression, autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit disorder (ADHD), and parent training. She utilizes a cognitive behavioral approach to counseling and therapy and emphasizes the importance of parental and school involvement. In addition, she provides psychological assessment for the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive and social/emotional deficits.

In addition to her doctor of psychology, Dr. Rafferty holds her master of arts in school psychology, master of arts in special education, and bachelor of science in psychology from St. John’s University. She is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), and the National Association for School Psychologists (NASP).
