Philosophy of Care

Prior to joining PHCA, I divided my professional time between administrative roles, resident education, and patient care. I now devote all of my time to children listening patiently to my patients and their parents, providing care and information that empowers parents to achieve their goals, and strives to make each child’s world a little safer and ensure that they reach their potential.

Dr. Edward Bailey, a native Vermonter, graduated from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 1970, before moving to Rochester, NY to complete this training in Pediatrics at Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester. In 1973, Dr. Bailey joined the US Air Force, where he served for two years as Chief of Pediatrics, Shaw Air Base, Sumpter, SC. When released from active duty, Dr. Bailey moved his family to Springfield, Massachusetts where he cared for children and became the Chief of Ambulatory and General Pediatrics at Baystate Medical Center.

In 2001, Dr. Bailey was recruited by North Shore Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital to lead pediatric care at North Shore Children’s Hospital, assuring high-quality care for patients and an excellent learning experience for trainees from Massachusetts General Hospital for Children. When Dr. Bailey stepped down as Chair of Pediatrics in 2014, he joined Pediatric Health Care Associates to devote his time to the clinical care of children and their families.
