Philosophy of Care

For the past 35 years I have had the honor of being a small part of many children and their families lives. I have always wanted to hear their stories and share mine with them and hopefully in the process enrich each other's lives. I feel a bond to the emerging babies and to the emerging young adults and hope to provide a little experience, an open mind, and a welcoming hand.

Dr. Charles Brown began studying children as an epidemiologist, through Piaget and Child development. He wandered through microbiology and immunology and found his home in pediatric medicine because children we're not responsible for their illnesses. Dr. Brown discovered that he loved watching children became adolescents and that he felt honored to get to know the families of these emerging adults. His practice is called "family pediatrics" because of a desire to treat his colleagues as an extension of a family and the individual patient as a part of a larger community . His hope is that through an alliance with the families he treats the communities they are a part of might be a little better off because of their mutual journey. Along the way he has been honored to teach and be taught by Medical students and residents from Tufts Med School, to MGH residents to Harvard Medical students from whom he has learned as much as he has taught.

Dr. Brown has also received several awards, including Boston Magazine's Top Doctor (2017; 2018; 2019) and the Compassionate Doctor Award.
