Professional History
Dr. Peter Chiu is a congenital heart surgeon at Boston Children’s Hospital, where he cares for infants, children, and young adults with complex heart conditions. He specializes in surgical treatment of congenital heart disease, including conditions involving the heart, major blood vessels, and airway compression.
Dr. Chiu received his medical degree from Columbia University and completed his cardiothoracic surgery training at Stanford University. He went on to complete advanced fellowship training in congenital heart surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital, where he now serves as an attending surgeon. He is also an instructor in surgery at Harvard Medical School.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Chiu serves as the Surgical Director of the Pulmonary Artery Reconstruction Program at Boston Children’s Hospital. His research focuses on improving surgical outcomes and long-term quality of life for children with congenital heart disease.

I am committed to working closely with families, listening carefully to their concerns, and helping them understand each step of their child’s care so they feel informed, supported, and confident throughout the treatment journey.
