Marvin Medow | Professional History

Dr. Marvin Medow completed a research Fellowship at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in the Division of Biochemical Development and Metabolic Diseases.

He later joined the Staff of The Children’s Hospital and taught physiology at The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. During this time he earned a certificate in Business Administration at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Medow became a member of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition in 1984. He has participated in the education of medical students, graduate students, medical residents and fellows. To date, Dr. Medow has over 100 scientific publications and has authored several book chapters. His scientific research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, The American Heart Association, New York State, The CFIDS Association and various private foundations. His wide range of scientific investigations include, biochemical development, cellular structure and function, gastrointestinal motility, carbohydrate malabsorption, cardiovascular function, syncope, postural tachycardia syndrome and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Dr. Medow is the Associate Director of The Center for Hypotension at NY Medical College which is funded by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health. The Center specializes in research of the mechanisms of Orthostatic Intolerance, the inability to remain upright relieved by recumbence, Postural Tachycardia Syndrome, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
