Lisa Benson | Professional History

Lisa brings with her over six years of post-graduate mental health experience and has honed expertise in a variety of complex community and behavioral health issues. She has worked in a variety of settings to support clients with needs not limited to trauma, substance abuse, LGBTQ+ issues and eating disorders. For the past two years, Lisa has honed expertise in the treatment of eating disorders and maintains a small caseload in a group private practice providing specialized support in this area. Lisa’s adolescent clients find her to be authentic, nonjudgmental, and easy to talk to. She has experience with a variety of evidence-based treatments and is skilled in integration of treatment modalities to tailor support to each individual’s needs.

Lisa received her master’s degree in clinical social work through NYU and Hunter College’s advanced standing programs. Her undergraduate studies were supplemented by fieldwork with refugee youth and families, and as a graduate student, she provided support to HIV+ adolescents. Since then, she has worked in private practice, domestic violence, community mental health, school, and substance abuse treatment settings.
