Laura Perretta | Professional History

Dr. Laura Perretta, MD, FAAP grew up in New York City and Westchester County. She graduated from Harvard College with a degree in biochemical sciences in 2006 and then completed medical school at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2011. She remained at Columbia to complete pediatric residency and work as a hospitalist at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in New York, NY. She then completed fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York, NY in 2019. Dr. Perretta is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

Dr. Perretta joined the Division of Newborn Medicine in August 2019 and is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at New York Medical College. Her prior research has included conducting a randomized controlled trial evaluating the effects of delayed cord clamping on postnatal circulatory status in preterm neonates and investigating the long term outcomes of term neonates who underwent therapeutic hypothermia following mild encephalopathy. She currently serves as the director of neonatal transport helping to facilitate communication and quality assurance for transports from affiliates within our regional hospital network, as well as assisting in ongoing education for the transport team. She lives in Briarcliff Manor, NY with her husband and young children, and is delighted to serve her local community as an attending neonatologist at Hudson Valley Hospital and Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center.
