Kira (Apse) Dies | Professional History

Ms. Dies is board certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and a licensed genetic counselor in Massachusetts. Her experience includes establishing a new clinic in 2004, the Comprehensive Brain Malformation Program, at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) and coordinating research on the genetics of brain malformations and cognitive disorders. She also previously coordinated multi-site research and family resources for the non-profit Autism Consortium. Since 2008, Ms. Dies served as a Senior Genetic Counseling Program Manager and co-Director of Clinical Research Operations of the Translational Neuroscience Center at BCH, managing clinical research programs in Neurogenetics and providing clinical genetic counseling for patients in the Neurology department. In January 2021, she was promoted to the Executive Director of the new Rosamund Stone Zander Translational Neuroscience Center at BCH. She serves on the Board of Directors for the CureAP4 advocacy organization, the Professional Advisory Board for the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, the Clinical Ethics Board and Neuroscience Family Advisory Council at BCH. She has numerous publications regarding genetic susceptibility to autism and tuberous sclerosis complex as well as social issues in genetic counseling.

As a Board Certified and Massachusetts Licensed Genetic Counselor, Ms. Dies' career has focused on neurodevelopmental disorders including elucidating genetic causes, performing gene-specific clinical treatment trials, and providing genetic counseling in a clinical setting.
