Govindaiah Vinukonda | Professional History

Govindaiah Vinukonda is an Assistant Professor in the department of Pediatrics. Investigating pathogenesis of intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH), post hemorrhagic hydrocephalus, and white matter injury. Dr. Vinukonda awarded scientist development grant from American heart Association at national level.

His research studies focuses on the pathogenesis of intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) and evaluates neuro-protective strategies to prevent brain damage after IVH in premature infants. Thus our goal is a) to minimize the incidence of brain hemorrhage and b) to improve the developmental outcome of premature infants with brain hemorrhage. Our work is related to both the aspect of research neonatal brain development and neurological disorders.

Our research studies focus on the pathogenesis of intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) and development of neuro-protective strategies to prevent brain damage after IVH in premature infants. Current therapeutic strategies to treat IVH or prevent the resultant white matter brain injury have been largely unsuccessful.
