Dr. Smyth received her dental degree from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland in 2012. After 5 years working in private general practice, she returned to Trinity College to undertake a three-year Clinical Doctorate in Pediatric Dentistry, graduating in 2020. Dr. Smyth held a position as a Clinical Supervisor at the Dublin Dental University Hospital, Trinity College Dublin, and also as a pediatric dental associate in a specialist private practice in Dublin. 

Dr. Smyth joined the team at Boston Children's Hospital Department of Dentistry in 2022 as a Clinical Fellow in Pediatric Dentistry, staying on as an attending in pediatric dentistry following her fellowship. Dr. Smyth's clinical areas of interest include prevention of oral diseases, dental trauma prevention, and management of traumatic dental injuries and their long-term effects, She is also involved in pediatrlc dental education both at the predoctoral level at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and at the postdoctoral level at Boston Children's Hospital.
