Christina Scelfo | Professional History

Dr. Christina Scelfo completed her fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School and now leads the BCHP Ophthalmology division in Hawthorne, NY. She previously obtained her undergraduate degree at Fordham University, graduating summa cum laude with a dual major in Biology and English Literature. She went on to obtain her MD as part of the inaugural class of the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell with the honor of Alpha Omega Alpha. She spent her intern year at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan and then moved to Boston to complete ophthalmology residency at Boston Medical Center. There, she was recognized for her dedication to resident teaching and research and served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Scelfo strives to create a warm and welcoming environment for all patients. She was initially drawn to pediatric ophthalmology because of the chance to treat preventable vision loss in children and she remains passionate about detecting and optimizing outcomes for children with amblyopia. She practices comprehensive pediatric ophthalmology, and this includes managing all types of strabismus in both children and adults. She is trained in and often utilizes an adjustable suture technique to optimize outcomes in her patients who need strabismus surgery. Dr. Scelfo ensures that each patient receives a thorough exam and thoughtful treatment plan at each visit. She is always excited to welcome new patients and families to the office!
