Research Opportunities | Overview

There are multiple resources available for clinical research, including access to a departmental PhD statistician, computer access throughout the department and hospital, in-house IT professionals to help with information storage, and a clinical research manager to help with IRB development and clinical research ethics training. Dr. Margaret Kenna, Director of Clinical Research, contacts the incoming fellows before their Boston Children's arrival to discuss research opportunities and help plan for what resources will be needed when they arrive. When the trainees arrive, Dr. Kenna has quarterly meetings with them to focus on a research topic, provide needed resources, and then do work-in-progress follow-up. The fellows will be assigned a faculty mentor once a research project is determined, and will have the opportunity to present their research project at the final research conference of the academic year.
