Dr. Craig Lillehei is a Senior Associate in the Department of Surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital and an Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School. He is board certified in general surgery, pediatric surgery and surgical care. Dr. Lillehei graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1976. He completed his general surgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. As such, he is very actively involved in the training of medical students, residents and fellows. He was the surgical director of both the kidney and lung transplant programs at Boston Children’s Hospital for many years. He also served as a trustee for the New England Organ Bank as the regional representative to the UNOS Board of Directors. He maintains an active clinical practice in pediatric thoracic and general surgery. His recent research projects have included the development of a risk-adjustment model for predicting mortality in non-cardiac neonatal surgery and methods to align family and team expectations around surgical consent.
