In the 2018-2019 school year, BCHNP clinicians facilitated Break Free from Depression in all three of BCHNP’s partner high schools, reaching 16 classrooms and 555 students.
The above figure represents pre and post data for students participating in Break Free from Depression in BCHNP partner schools in the 2018-2019 school year. Although the improvement in the number of students demonstrating more favorable (less stigmatizing) attitudes towards depression and suicide was small, there was a strong gain in knowledge related to depression and suicide. There was an even stronger gain in students’ confidence in their abilities to identify and seek help for signs of depression and suicide in themselves and their peers.
