We now offer concussion testing at Orangetown Pediatrics for children ages 10 and older. We use a program called ImPACT (Immediate Post Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Test), a neurocognitive test to help guide concussion care.
The first step is to get a baseline test, which takes about 20-25 minutes. This test evaluates verbal and visual memory, processing speed and reaction time. If your child has an injury, we use this baseline reading to evaluate the extent of the injury and make return-to-play recommendations. Some of the local high schools offer baseline testing for varsity athletes, but we recommend a baseline test for all children ages 10 or older who play sports.
Call our office if you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment.
