Current Environment:

Our practice uses evidence-based care and follows the guidelines and recommendations provided by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

Medical advice

Our nursing staff is available to give you medical advice and answer any questions or concerns that you may have. Please do not hesitate to call us. If an appointment is needed, the nurse will schedule one for your child. If your child is ill, we will make every attempt to make sure that he/she will be seen that day. Please call our office as early in the day as possible for best availability. Our nurses try to answer phone calls as they come into the office. If the nurse is unavailable at the time you call, we will call you back as soon as possible.

Prescription refills

Prescription refill requests should be called in during regular business hours. You may also request prescription refills in MyChart. Please allow at least 24 hours for all refill requests.

Late and missed appointments

Patients who arrive late for appointments will be seen at the discretion of the provider. We may ask you to see another provider if you are scheduled for a same-day sick visit and you are late. Patients that are more than 15 minutes late may be asked to reschedule their appointment.

If you must cancel an appointment, please call the office at least 24 hours prior to the appointment. We will be able to reschedule your appointment and make your cancelled time slot available to other patients.

We understand that occasional circumstances prevent you from being on time. Please call the office in advance if you will be late.

Office technology

Our practice adopted the use of electronic medical records, or EMR, in 2009. Our providers use laptop computers to access your child’s medical records from anywhere in our building. We send our prescriptions electronically to your pharmacy. Our EMR system contains a Patient Portal called MyChart, which allows parents and teenagers to communicate with our office in a secure manner through the Internet. Through MyChart, you can request non-urgent appointments, referrals, and prescription refills, and have access to limited medical information. When you visit our office, an enrollment form must be completed for each child.

After hours

After our normal office hours, we offer 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week telephone coverage, which is shared with other community pediatricians on a rotating basis. When a pediatrician in our office is on call, an appointment for a sick child can usually be arranged during the day or evening at our office on Field Street. This includes Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Please be aware that office hours during on-call periods vary and availability may be limited during busy times.

After on-call office hours, a message may be left with our answering service. They will forward your message to our on-call nurse who should call you back within 30 minutes. If you do not hear from anyone within this time frame, please call again at 508-999-2981. The on-call nurse will contact a physician when necessary.

When a pediatrician outside of our group is on call, a similar service is generally available. Our answering service will provide you with the covering physician’s name and phone number. If your child needs to be seen it will take place at the covering pediatrician’s office. If you are unfamiliar with that pediatrician’s location, please be sure to ask for the address and directions if needed.
