Well visit bills and payments
On January 1, 2021, new Federal guidelines from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) went into effect, changing the way that medical providers bill and are paid for medical services. We are required to follow these new billing guidelines.
These changes apply to visits for well and sick care. As a result of these changes your insurance company may assign a co-pay or other charges for services provided during a well visit. For example, your insurance may require a copay if we send lab work, refill a prescription, formulate asthma or allergy action plans, or manage a new acute problem during a well visit. A copay may also be assigned if your provider needs to coordinate care with specialists or external agencies as well.
We have no way of knowing if your insurance plan will apply additional charges to your visit.
