Coronavirus Updates | Hyde Park Pediatrics

High phone call volume

We have had an unprecedented surge in call volume related to the COVID-19 outbreak. Governor Baker and the federal government have requested that insurance companies provide financial support to medical practices to help defray the costs of providing telephone advice. We are now billing insurance for any COVID related calls to our office.

Caring for your child during the COVID-19 pandemic

Your child and family’s health is our top priority. The situation is evolving rapidly, but our current plan is to keep all patients with any possible COVID symptoms out of our Hyde Park office, so that we can maintain a safe space. We  have adopted increased cleaning measures and have spaced patient visits so that we can continue to provide vital well care to children 2 years and younger. It is critical that vaccine coverage not lapse. Epidemics of vaccine-controllable illnesses on top of coronavirus could crush our society.

Well care for older children, behavioral health care, and care for most illnesses will be provided through virtual visits. It is IMPERATIVE that you check to be sure that your child is active on the MyChart portal. We also strongly recommend that you download Zoom and the MyChart App from the App store onto your phone and tablets, in case you need care or advice from us. If you need help registering for MyChart or are having trouble installing Zoom or the MyChart App, please call our front desk staff anytime during regular hours, so that we can walk you through the process. As we decrease the number of staff in the office, we will transition all requests for nurse advice to the virtual visit platform.

You can help us to help you by:

  • Answering our screening questions about illness as accurately as you possibly can.
  • Limiting the number of people who accompany your child to the office to just one parent and no siblings if possible.
  • Children with COVID compatible symptoms who require a visit will be seen at a separate site. We have very limited testing supplies, so these will be reserved for high risk patients only.
