John R. Knight, MD, director of the Center for Adolescent Substance Abuse Research, was awarded the prestigious John P. McGovern award from the Association for Medical Education and Research in Substance Abuse (AMERSA). This award recognized his body of work throughout his career. Sion Harris, PhD, CPH, also received an award from AMERSA—the John C. Chapel Best Research award—for her work.
R. Michael Scott, MD, neurosurgeon-in-chief emeritus, was awarded the prestigious Franc D. Ingraham Distinguished Service Award. Given by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons/Congress of Neurological Surgeons Section of Pediatric Neurological Surgery, the award is the highest honor awarded by the organization.
The American Society of Hematology presented their 2011 Wallace H. Coulter Award for Lifetime Achievement in Hematology, the Society's highest honor, to David G. Nathan, MD, president emeritus of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and former chief of the Dana-Farber/Children's Hospital Cancer Center, for his remarkable career combining outstanding teaching, pioneering research and excellence in clinical care.

Ivan D. Frantz, III, MD, has joined Children's as the medical director of Neonatal and Perinatal Outreach and will be practicing at Winchester Hospital. Dr. Frantz will be working with staff and physicians, along with adult hospital partners, to build a community-based perinatal network.
