Sandra Fenwick was recently named president of Children’s Hospital Boston. She will remain in her role as chief operating officer, and James Mandell, MD, will continue to serve as chief executive officer. Fenwick came to Children’s in 1999 after a 20-year career in health care administration and strategic planning.
Kathy Jenkins, MD, MPH, was appointed senior vice president of The Program for Patient Safety & Quality. This change underscores Children’s commitment to patient safety and quality in clinical outcomes and innovation, and the hospital’s national leadership in this area.
David Williams, MD, chief of Hematology/Oncology and director of Translational Research, was recently named to the Executive Committee of the American Society of Hematology, the world’s largest professional society of blood specialists.
Dario Fauza, MD, associate in the Department of Surgery, received a $500,000 grant from the Children’s Hospital League Fund for fetal tissue engineering research. Dr. Fauza’s research is directed at developing original, more effective ways to repair birth defects, both pre- and postnatally.
Tobias Schatton, PharmD, PhD, received a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the American Heart Association to study "Immunomodulatory Function of ABCB5+ dermal mesenchymal stem cells in cardiac allograft rejection."
Bin Zhou, MD, PhD, received a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the American Heart Association to study "Epicardial progenitor cells in fetal and adult heart."
